Mens Hiking Boots - What You Should Look For
Hiking can be a great hobby. As a matter-of-fact for some, it is a sport. If you want to have a good experience it is absolutely essential that you select the right gear. Probably the most important gear will be your boots. There are many different men's hiking boots to select from. It is recommended that you stay away from the cheap hiking boots because you will have a bad hike and definitely end up buying a new pair after you torture your feet. Quality men's hiking boots can be found for 100 dollars and up. If you are considering hitting the trails on a regular basis then you will want to look at the higher range boots. You do not want to skimp in this department.
Here is what you want to look for in your hiking boots. Examine the exterior of the boot, pay attention to the sole and what type of traction the boot has. Try on the hiking boot and make sure your foot is snug, but you should still be able to wiggle your toes slightly. If the boots are to tight your feet will begin to sweat quickly and the boot will not be able release the moisture fast enough. Even though I say you should be able to wiggle your toes, I do not mean that your foot should move around. if your foot moves even slightly you will most certainly end up with some nasty blisters.
When you try on the men's hiking boots pay special attention to the arch support. Ask yourself how the pressure point is to the bottom of your foot. The boot may feel really good at first but if the pressure points are not correct you will experience pain into your first few minutes of hiking. From experience I recommend you compare three or four pairs and go with the lightest pair of the group, if you are a newbie to this sport. As you get more experience you can then go with the heavier sturdier boot. I made the mistake of getting a really good pair of very expensive boots when I first started out and quickly found out that the weight was to much to carry. You want to be light on your feet when you first get started. As you adapt and start to tackle the harder trails you will notice that you will be able to handle the heavier men's hiking boots. One manufacturer that comes to mind is Lowa, they pay special attention to the arch and make a relatively lightweight hiking boot for beginners. I do not want to lead you to one brand because there are many excellent brands out there, but there boot is a good to compare with when you make your selection. So to sum it up you want to:
1. Pick light weight ( if your new )
2. Check for well made seams
3. Pay attention to the arch support
4. Study the sole for traction ( depending on how hard the hike is )
5. Make sure you can wiggle your toes slightly so your feet can breathe
