College Football Predictions - 2010 Florida State Seminoles

It will be strange looking at the Florida State Seminole College Football Picks team and not seeing Bobby Bowden on the sideline. New head coach Jimbo Fisher takes over a team that has a ton of talent on offense and a ton of questions on defense. If Fisher can do something about the defense this Florida State team could make it to the ACC title game. FSU were one of the most bizarre teams in college football last year they would struggle at home against a division double A team and then go out to BYU and blow a highly ranked cougar team off of the field. The Seminole went 7-6 overall in 2009 and were 4-9 against the spread, going over the betting odds total 8 times and under 5 times. The Seminole offense ranked 29th overall nationally averaging 421 yards per game, the team rushed for a little over 149 yards per game which was 60th in the country, The Noles scored 30 points per game and proved they can put points on the board against any team in NCAA football. The defense ranked near the bottom in nearly every category and that is totally out of character for a Florida State football team, they gave up as many points as thy scored per game and that is scary.

The 2010 Florida State offense returns 10 starters which will again make them one of the most potent offenses in college football. The leader is senior Christian Ponder who completed 68 percent of his passes and threw for 2,717 yards before separating his shoulder in game 9 of the season last year. Ponder will throw to Bert Reid, Jarmon Fortson and Taiwan Easterling, all three of these guy's had productive seasons a year ago with Reid leading the group with 710 receiving yards. The Seminole could have the best offensive line in the nation as they return all 5 starters from the unit. The running backs will be Jermaine Thomas and Chris Thompson, both are very capable of gaining 1,000 yards. The FSU offense should be fun to watch.

the defense, this is where all of the question marks are, new defensive coordinator Mark Stoops will have them vastly improved, Stoops helped his brother with a tough University of Arizona defense that ranked 25th in NCAA football. Like the University of Florida and the University of Miami, Florida State gets the cream of the crop in the Sunshine State and the Seminoles landed one of the best defensive backs in the 2010 recruiting class when they signed LaMarcus Joyner from St.Thomas Aquinas high school in Ft Lauderdale. Joyner should play on the other side of Greg Reid who had a great freshman campaign in 2009. Don't look for this unit to resemble the defense of the glory days but they are on their way back to that status. Florida State will be the surprise team in the ACC and will be in the title game.

College Football Week 3 - Dream Season Ends For Southern Cal, Brigham Young, Utah and Georgia Tech

(Editor's Note: The rankings in this article are from the AP Top 25 Poll of sportswriters and sportscasters, and the ratings are from Jeff Sagarin. Ed Bagley's Top 25 Poll is just as subjective as the AP Poll or the Coaches' Poll, but my poll is just so much more fun to read.)

The great difference why watching college football games is so much more enjoyable than watching pro football is not because it is exciting-heck, pro football can be exciting too-it's because college football is much more unpredictable. College football's third week of action is an excellent example.

The fortunes of four teams-Southern California, Brigham Young, Utah and Georgia Tech-changed dramatically after losing this week.

Third-ranked USC, which beat San Jose State 56-3 at home and Ohio State 18-15 away in its first two games, flew north to Seattle and lost 16-13 to a Washington Husky team that was 0-12 last season. The Trojans lost because Steve Sarkisian, Washington's energetic new head coach, and Nick Holt, Washington's excitable new defensive coordinator, played key roles for USC last season; Sarkisian was offensive coordinator for the Trojans and Holt was the defensive coordinator.

Washington started its season by playing hard and losing to 9th-ranked Louisiana State, 31-24, before knocking off Idaho 42-23 to record its first win in 16 games. The Huskies now believe they can win and, believe you me, USC now knows they can get embarrassed by a team that believes they can win.

Washington's Huskies were rewarded for their effort by jumping into the AP Top 25 Poll at No. 24. USC dropped from 3rd to 12th in the same AP Poll. Washington's Sagarin rating also jumped 39 places in 7 days-from 63 to 24.

Seventh-ranked Brigham Young started its season by upsetting Oklahoma 14-13, and then trashed Tulane, 54-3. Unfortunately, unranked Florida State, which managed to get beaten by Miami (FL) 38-34 in its opener at home, and then slip by lowly Jacksonville State 19-9 at home, traveled to BYU and stung the Cougars, 54-28. BYU dropped to 19th the AP Poll.

Eighteenth-ranked Utah, which was the only undefeated major college football team last year at 13-0, slipped by Utah State 35-17 and San Jose State 24-14 before traveling to unranked Oregon and getting upset, 31-24.

Fourteenth-ranked Georgia Tech opened its season by looking unimpressive with a win over lowly Jacksonville State 37-17, and barely getting past Clemson 30-27, but found the going much tougher against No. 20 Miami (FL), losing 33-17. The Yellow Jackets dropped right out of the AP Poll, and Miami rocketed up from 20th to 9th.

Unpredictable? You bet. The chances of USC, BYU, Utah or Georgia Tech playing in the National Championship Game this year are probably nil; all of them were undefeated last week.

Here are 11 ranked teams that won and are now 3-0 and moving on:

No. 1 Florida at home over SEC opponent Tennessee 23-13. No. 2 Texas at home over Texas Tech 34-24; Texas Tech was the only team to beat Texas last year. No. 4 Alabama at home over lowly, 124th-ranked North Texas, 53-7. No. 5 Penn State at home over lowly, 125th-ranked Temple, 31-6. No. 8 California on-the-road over Minnesota, 35-21. No. 9 LSU at home over in-state rival LA-Lafayette, 31-3. No. 10 Boise State on-the-road over Fresno State, 51-34.

No. 17 Cincinnati on-the-road over Oregon State, 28-18. No. 22 Kansas at home over Duke, 44-16. No. 24 North Carolina at home over in-state rival East Carolina, 31-17. No. 25 Michigan at home over in-state rival Eastern Michigan, 45-17.

Six other ranked teams won. No. 5 Mississippi (now 2-0 and tied with Penn State at No. 5) at home beat lowly, 167th-ranked, 1-AA Southeastern Louisiana, 52-6; and TCU (now 2-0) at home beat lowly, 137th-ranked, 1-AA Texas State San Marcos, 56-21. No. 11 Ohio State on-the-road over No. 105-ranked Toledo, 38-0.

No. 12 Oklahoma, after being upset by BYU 14-13 in its opener, is trying to win back votes with shutouts over #178th-ranked Idaho State 64-0, and now Tulsa, 45-0. No. 16 Oklahoma State (now 2-1) at home over winless, 155th-ranked Rice, 41-24. No. 23 Georgia (now 2-1) on-the-road over Arkansas in a really ugly win, 52-41.

The Georgia-Arkansas game was almost as bad as Notre Dame's home victory over Michigan State, 33-30. All four of these teams are not that good, and you can tell that by the scores-none of them have a defense worth talking about at the moment. They could all get better in future weeks, but right now none of them are nearly as good as advertised.

Nine other unranked teams quietly went to 3-0 this week, any or all of them could keep winning and move into the AP Top 25 Poll soon. They include:

Southern Mississippi at home barely over Virginia, 37-34. Colorado State at home over Nevada, 35-20. Pittsburgh at home over Navy, 27-14. Iowa at home over Arizona, 27-17. Auburn at home over West Virginia, 41-30. UCLA at home over Kansas State, 23-9. Wisconsin at home over 102nd-ranked, 1-AA Wofford, 44-14. Missouri at home over 120th-ranked, 1-AA Furman, 52-12. South Florida at home over lowly, 162nd-ranked, 1-AA Charleston Southern, 59-0.

Seven teams should not have been on the same field with their opponent this week because absolutely none of them had any real chance of winning. They included North Texas, Temple, Eastern Michigan, Southeastern Louisiana, Texas State San Marcos, Rice, and Charleston Southern.

The biggest winner of the week? It's the Washington Huskies, hands down. Their 16-13 victory over USA ranks as the greatest upset by Washington's football program in school history. Washington just may become the biggest surprise of the season.

Appreciating Ice Hockey: An Alternative to South Florida Football and Basketball Teams

During a sports season where the Dolphins have the worst record in the NFL and the Miami Heat already seem hell-bent on a lackluster (or worse) follow-up to last year's stunning championship win (dropping almost all of their preseason games and then getting completely trounced by the Bulls during their home opener), Miami - Ft. Lauderdale residents might be looking for a team that they can watch whose performance doesn't disgust them. Enter South Florida's hockey team, the Florida Panthers.

I was born and raised in Alaska, which means that it was mandated by law that I play hockey (and by hockey, I of course mean the variety played on ice, not the variety played on fields by high-school girls and the Irish). As such, I developed an understanding of it that extends beyond that of the average Floridian - namely, that hockey is essentially about large Canadians punching each other. While this is an important facet of the game, there is really a lot more to it. It is a precise game of individual skill and team strategy that is one of the most fast-paced games on the planet.

If you know nothing about hockey (beyond, of course, the bit about the Canadians punching each other), here are some basic rules and things to watch for: Each team is allowed 6 players, including the goaltender. The game is played in three twenty-minute periods, and the object is to put the puck in your opponent's net as many times as possible. That pretty much sums up the gist of the game.

As far as some of the finer points - if the referee blows his whistle, chances are there is one of four reasons: the goaltender has covered the puck, there is a penalty, there is an icing call, or someone is off-sides. The goaltender covering the puck is self-explanatory, and penalties are generally pretty intuitive (no using your stick to haul someone down, no elbowing people to the head, etc.) Icing occurs when a team shoots the puck from their side of the ice (behind the center red-line) to behind the opposing team's goal line (the little red lines across either end). Off-sides occurs when an attacking player goes into their opponent's defensive zone (past the blue line) before the puck. Now that you know the basic rules, you can concentrate on what makes hockey so exciting: the action.

Other than the fighting, the thing that people know about hockey is the prevalence of bone crushing body checks. The whole stadium will gasp (and then cheer wildly) as two 240 lb. behemoths collide on the boards with a deafening shudder. Many people are surprised that such occurrences are completely legal by the rules of the game; the fact of the matter is that, when done legally, even the most impressive body checks have very little chance of resulting in injury, and when combined with the amazing speed of the game, the physicality makes it very exciting.

It should be noted that to fully enjoy an ice-hockey game, you should take some friends in tow and get some decent seats, as you would with any sporting event; and, just like for any other sporting event, many limousine companies (including Mirage Limo) offer sporting packages that greatly enhance your trip to and from the game.

In no time at all, you'll be watching and cheering Ed Belfour's great saves and Ollie Jokinen's fantastic goals. Hockey is a great game, and now, with the wintry outlook for South Florida's other professional teams, is the perfect time to discover it.

2008-2009 NCAA Football Final Top 10 Predictions

1st Ohio State - I am an avid fan of Michigan, but have to admit, back 18 starters is run from an already solid 2 years to hit pretty hard. The talent at OSU on or about every elite level program in the country this season, and this should finally be there year.

* Win all .... If you pass an early season test @ USC (9 / 13). This could very well go the first of two meetings between the Trojans and Buckeyes in '08-'09, but the losing Game 1 is to have to hope for awobbly top 5 like last year. Win or Lose for the Buckeyes, they still have a shot at the end of the season in the NC Game.
* Possible obstacles ... @ Wisconsin, Illinois and @ @ MSU, with all 3 of them improved this season, could be hard as the last game at home against Michigan.

2nd Florida - A new edition of the '06-'07 game ends opposite way for the Gators, so too do the OSU that some of the SEC Supiority. (However, I strongly feel the SEC is the bestConference in the country, but that have for another day.) Tebow, Harvin, Moody, Gainey and Co. is an explosive offensive year and a youthful defense will cause fits all year.

* Win it if ... its simple, beat Miami (FL), Tennessee, LSU, FSU, Georgia and Arkansas.
* Possible obstacles ... The Schedule, Tebow durability. IMO this offense is not stopped, but it could potentially be obsolete, I guess.

3rd Georgia - Its very hard to getagainst the Bulldogs this season, almost all of them again, 15 + I think the timing could be the downfall. Matthew Stafford, Knowshon Moreno will again dazzle. Massaquoi is finally a star next to AJ Green for the big play threats. The defense will beat very fast and hard, I love Coach directional as well, he always has his teams prepared. Some of the big time recruits have great freshman seasons. Tyson, Harmon, and Jackson will all increase the D-Line.

* Win all... if you beat Florida on 1 November, IMO winning the SEC East will be a lock for the NC game, apart from tipping over in the SEC title game.
* Possible obstacles ... @ ASU, @ LSU, and @ Auburn is difficult to overcome, as well as Florida, 'Bama, and Tennessee at home.

4th Clemson I will for this pick I think, to hear, but I like this Clemson team, with a very favorable schedule and game breaker like CJ Spiller and James Davis. Bowers on the defensive side is alarge impact and Spencer Adams (S) and Brandon Thompson (DT).

* Win it if ... You do not stumble. You should be good if they happen to Game 1 vs. Alabama, that is, until the ACC title game. VT and possibly could be in Miami Bowl, the difference between BCS Champ Game or the orange.
* Possible obstacles ... Alabama, @ FSU, ACC title game and a lack of concentration or preparation for any other games, it's happened before that is a criticism of coach Tommy Bowden.

5th USC - 5is probably too low for this very talented team. QB Mark Sanchez (or possibly Mitch Mustain inherits) more offensive weapons than you could dream of, the only problem is the amount of pressure that brings.

* Win it if ... You get solid play from their QB. Both are his experienced and very talented, they do not have to be leaders playmaker. OSU at home, the typical Cal and Oregon games hard, and then the showdown with New UCLA.
* Possible obstacles ... Complete meltdowns fromboth QB's, trap games vs. ASU Cal, Oregon and Notre Dame. Very easily could play the title however.

6th Oklahoma - A very scary team 1 of about 8 teams with a legit title oppurtunity. Bradford & Co. will be huge again appear on the offense, and coach Stoops, "Defenses never fail. A lot of talent returning from last years young squad. The annual showdown with Texas is the biggest test, but Kansas, KSU, Nebraska, Texas A & M, Cincinnati and all will pose dangerous. And nevercount out Texas Tech either.

* Win it if ... They are consistent, they were all able in the last season up to that terrible Texas Tech game, a dangerous Mizzou squad awaiting them in the Big 12 title game.
* Possible obstacles ... Not many, only learn from their mistakes last season. Play Stoops' ball and dont let up vs. Texas and all the others.

7th Texas - could flip Oklahoma. One of the two wins the Big 12 South, a deadly defense must carry the burden in the big gamesfor they have a chance in a very offensive Big 12 this season.

* Win it if ... You win the Big 12 title, his do-able, but unlikely this year. McCoy will be huge if.
* Possible obstacles ... Colorado, Oklahoma, Mizzou, Tech, Kansas and Texas A & M, Big 12 title game. Thats 7 very tough games. Could easily slip.

8th WVU - she for real, I do not think they were, until the bowl game last season. This time is in many aspects of the guests, they only need to stay motivatedand do not get from Pitt or any other "underdog bite." Bill Stewart will not allow this program fall off. Pat White has a Heisman Longshot, Noel Devine will be the real deal.

* Win it if ... They do not rot. The competition for this season Auburn team is very big, but they played with the best of em last season vs. Oklahoma and showed they belong.
* Possible obstacles ... Cincinnati will be a tough game again, and Auburn, The Backyard Brawl, the Bearcats will be better is clearwill always be interesting.

9th Missouri - they are a boatload of starters Chase Daniel and Jeremy Maclin return + the best 1-2 punch in the country on a given day. The defense will win in a position to one or two games if necessary, the potential loss could injuries that we all hope will never happen, but could do a lack of depth hurt.

* Win it if ... You win the Big 12 title, who comes from the Big 12 could be a very serious game NC have submitted bid.
* PotentialRoad blocks ... Game 1 vs. Illinois in a game rivlary, Nebraska, Texas, Colorado and Kansas.

10th Michigan - I need to do it. I am a big fan of the Wolverines, and my optimism is really high right now. (Although I think 2010 is a real title fight). Rich Rod will have this team stronger, faster, hungrier, and more. A lot of the incoming speed and playmakers in Ann Arbor. One is young, quick, and swarming defense now in place also.

* Win it if ... They will not help, 10-2is easily accessible, but this could also quickly 6-6,7-5 type season as well.
* Possible obstacles ... Notre Dame, Illinois, Wisconsin, MSU, OSU, PSU, and all lie in wait.

Florida Gators 2008 College Football Team Preview

Offensively, it all starts with quarterback Tim Tebow. Tebow is the reigning Heisman Trophy winner and he is only entering his Junior year. Tebow will have a bevy of incredibly talented players to get the ball to, and as a result, I do not see him reaching last season's amazing totals of 32 passing touchdowns and 23 rushing touchdowns.

The Gators are stacked at the wide receiver position, have two extremely talented tight ends and loads of experience along the offensive line. Florida will spread the ball around to receivers Percy Harvin, Louis Murphy and Riley Cooper as well as a deep corps of running backs who compliment each other very well. Sophomore tailback Chris Rainey, who will also line up at receiver, was the star of the spring game.

Florida led the SEC in offense last season and they have much of that unit returning. I do not expect the Gators to have much trouble moving the ball or scoring points in bunches.

The Gators defense appeared to be improving as the season progressed. But Michigan thoroughly humiliated them with 524 yards of offense in the Capital One Bowl. Coach Urban Meyer responded by bringing in two new defensive coaches. He also brought in a ton of talent from his recruiting class in order to upgrade the defensive side of the ball. Meyer also put an emphasis on changing some defensive strategies. This season, Meyer plans on playing more off-man coverage.

All-SEC linebacker Brandon Spikes is the cornerstone of the Florida defense. The Gators will need help from some of their freshmen if their defense is to improve. These freshmen include cornerback Janoris Jenkins, safety Will Hill and defensive tackle Omar Hunter.

On special teams, Florida will have a new kicker and it will most likely be true freshman Jacob Sturgis. Sturgis wowed coaches in the spring game by booting a 60-yard field goal. Sophomore Chas Henry is back as the team's punter. Henry's booming punts were very difficult for opponents to return last season.

Last season was a rebuilding year for Florida. The Gators lost a lot of talent from their 2006 National Championship team. They lost four games and failed to repeat as SEC champions. In my humble opinion, the pieces are in place for Florida to make another national title run this season. However, it won't be an easy task.

The Gators are in the same division with Georgia, another preseason favorite. Florida also has a very difficult schedule that consists of non-conference games against Miami, Florida State and Hawaii, road games at Tennessee and Arkansas, a home game against LSU, the defending national champions.

While it won't be easy, Florida certainly has the talent to be considered among the preseason favorites in the chase for the 2008 national championship.

College Football 2007 - 4 years, the biggest surprises - Oregon, Kansas, Boston College and Arizona State

College Football updated 4 biggest surprises Oregon, Kansas, Boston College and Arizona State. I say current because we have had more surprises this year than Carter has liver pills.

Three teams now in the distant past breathing some rarefied air at the beginning of the year. Wisconsin went 5-0 and No. 5 in the AP Top 25 poll before the defeat Illinois 31-26. South Florida went 6-0 and No. 2 before losing to Rutgers 30-27. Kentucky went 5-0 and rose to 8 No.before the defeat in South Carolina, 38-23.

If you are a hot trend here. Wisconsin, South Florida and Kentucky all lost their first game on the road. Wisconsin is currently 7-3, and not on the place. South Florida is 6-3 and not ranked. Kentucky is 6-3 and California (also 6-3) tied for No. 24.

The biggest surprise has been Oregon with his trademark 8-1 and No. 3 ranking. Oregon is a premier since the nation's programs with MikeBellotti.

Adopted at the final year in the middle of the Pac 10 races, has now put Oregon in the national championship race by moving to 3 in the overall BCS-No. Oregon's huge win No. 6-place Arizona State 35-23 over the weekend boosted his current rank. The Ducks now have Feierabend Arizona, UCLA and Oregon State finish 11-1, no easy task, but doable.

Arizona State was 8-0 at the time of loss and is now No. 9 and has the season with UCLA, USC Finish(an important test) and in-state rival Arizona (the Wildcats is like a demon) play a vengeance. Good luck, Dennis Erickson.

Kansas is a perfect 9-0 and No. 5 at the moment. The Jayhawks have played some cupcakes, but also to beat Kansas State, Colorado and Texas A & M before completely destroying Nebraska 76-39 on the weekend. Kansas still has from the Oklahoma State and Iowa State did not get (that big deal) and No. 7 Missouri Square (currently a big business going) to unbeaten at 12-0.

IfMissouri continues to gain a victory over Kansas, Missouri, they could vault into the national championship game if Oklahoma and Oregon to lose again. Right now Kansas is No. 4 in the BCS ranking.

Boston College went 8-0 and No. 2 before losing at home to Florida State 27-17 over the weekend, another away game first defeat. I do not think Boston College is always room as high as eagles began to fly. The Eagles have now dropped to 8 No. Boston College ended itsSeason with Maryland, Clemson and Miami (FL). They will do well to win at 11-1.

College Football Week 9 Point Spread Picks and Best Bets

We went 2-0 ATS with our college football picks last night when we meet with a Best Bet by BC over Virginia Tech and the Air Force in New Mexico. Below are some more free, and takes the games we have on Best Bets (this is the biggest decisions that we have had throughout the year are

WAKE FOREST (-6) VS. North Carolina - We have a strong opinion on this game.

Virginia (-3.5) VS. NC State: The home team in this series is 8-2 ATS in the last ten games and get points against you for the love of a weakOffensive team like Virginia. Al Groh's squad has won nationals with the defense and they are certainly not averse to losing games like this, when they do appear a few times each year. THE PICK: NC State (+3.5)

Florida State (-17.5) VS. Duke: The Seminoles are in a bad mood for this one blow after last week's game against Miami. You can be sure that Duke will face its full wrath, and that's a good Matchup for them to take their frustrations as the BlueDevils are terrible defensively, to help QB Drew Weatherford on track to be here. Duke is always when something decent big points (17-4 ATS when more than 16) on the road, but this is a clear bounce-back game at Florida State. THE PICK: Florida State (-17.5)

BIG EAST

LOUISVILLE (-11) VS. Pittsburgh - We have a strong opinion on this game.

West Virginia (-6) VS. RUTGERS: There are scenarios prefer both sides in this game would be my adviceto stay away and look elsewhere. THE PICK: PASS

South Florida (-4.5) VS. UCONN - We have a strong opinion on this game.

Big Ten

WISCONSIN (-7.5) VS. Indiana - This game is one of our best BETS for the week.

ILLINOIS (-13.5) VS. Ball State: Ball State is in a difficult position as they are one of the worst teams in college football at stopping the run, while Illinois is one of the best on them. Illinois could be doubts about, at last after a tough lossWeeks, and coach Ron Zook has lost a terrible history of the struggle against the ship for his team. In fact, he is only 4-17-1 ATS after a loss. But running the advantage should be enough to get Illinois to an easy victory. THE PICK: Illinois (-14)

MICHIGAN (-23.5) VS. Minnesota: This is to be a huge spread for Michigan and Minnesota for everyone is where they should be decent on offense in a position to hang in the vicinity. The Wolverines could certainly look past them a few largeConference struggles of the last weeks, so take the points. THE PICK: Minnesota (+23.5)

Big 12

MISSOURI (-28.5) VS. Iowa State: Too many points here to move to Missouri, because they come from some big conference battle against Texas Tech Oklahome and so the motivation is certainly a factor. The Cyclones can certainly remain in the vicinity and sleep to catch Missouri. THE PICK: Iowa State

Kansas (-2.5) VS. TEXAS A @ M - We have a strong opinion on this game.

MARSHALL (-9)VS. Rice - We have a strong opinion on this game.

MID AMERICAN

Central Michigan (-2.5) VS. Kent State - We have a strong opinion on this game.

BUFFALO (-1.5) VS. Akron: Buffalo continues to take up to Bowl season push and guide them in the right direction, as they have won their last two games and are clearly the better team at home against Akron, a team, giving up a ton of points and are always very little from their passing game. Lookfor the winning run on three hits from Buffalo moves closer to post season play. Enter the number and a half with confidence. THE PICK: Buffalo (-1.5)

VANDERBILT (-13.5) VS. Miami Ohio - We have a strong opinion on this game.

TOLEDO (-3.5) VS. Northern Illinois - We have a strong opinion on this game.

SEC

KENTUCKY (-13.5) VS. Mississippi State - This game is one of our best BETS for the week.

Sun Belt

Florida Atlantic (-6.5) VS. UL Monroe - WEHAVE A STRONG opinion on this game.

Western Athletic

Boise State (-3) VS. Fresno State - We have a strong opinion on this game.

HAWAII (-27) VS. New Mexico State - This game is one of our best BETS for the week.

College Football - Florida, Oklahoma, USC, Virginia Tech, East Carolina and Buffalo Win Title

It was the greatest college football game of the regular season playing No. 1 and undefeated Alabama (12-0) vs. No. 2 Florida (11-1) at Georgia Dome in Atlanta for the Southeastern Conference championship and the right to play the BCS National Championship Game.

When it came to,-the Florida Gators, led by junior quarterback and last year, Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow-emerged. Tebow was 0-5 in games when his Gators in the second half pulled, but he Statistics overcame this Saturday (12-6-08), by the last of his 3 touchdown passes with less than 3 minutes remaining to seal Florida's 31-20 victory.

Who, despite trailing in the second half to win Florida in the first half 17-10 and won the second half 14-10. Tebow was 14-of-22 passing for 216 yards and led his team in noise with another 57 meters. If Florida wanted to play a most, Tebow played a big role, it can happen.

The victory has> Florida other SEC title under coach Urban Meyer and his second trip in three years to the BCS National Championship Game. The Gators Ohio State for the national championship in 2006. Florida is led now face No. 4 Oklahoma for the BCS national title in Miami (FL).

Oklahoma continued its claim to Florida by dusting off No. 19 Missouri, 62-21, for the Big 12 championship face. Everything you need to know about the game is that it was 38-7 by half.

The 4Teams in contention for the BCS game in the last two weeks of the season were Alabama, Florida, Texas and Oklahoma. Everyone had a loss other than Alabama. Florida, which finally prevailed over Alabama, home to Ole Miss in its 31-30 4. Lost game of the season, and then ruining rattled off 8 wins in-a-row by large margins in Alabama run on the national title.

Oklahoma at home in Texas in their 45-35 6. Game lost, and then forwarded 6 teams before the big winof Missouri. The Sooners scored 60 points in the last 5 wins.

The Texas Longhorns won 8 straight before losing on the road to Texas Tech University, 39-33. After winning the last 3, they need Oklahoma to lose to Missouri, have a chance at a title shot.

Elsewhere, No. 12 and went undefeated Ball State (12-0) Alabama by the loss of his first game in the Mid American Conference Championship as a 7-5 Buffalo team Turner Gill took the Cardinals, 42-24, for the title. In just 3 years agoCoach Turner Gill has rejected about a Buffalo program that was one of the worst in America.

East Carolina (8-4) hung on and hung hard to beat Tulsa (10-2) in the Conference USA championship game, 27-24. Coach Skip Holtz won 3 games, including victories over Virginia Tech and West Virginia, lost 3 games and won 5 of last 6 before the game against Tulsa in the title.

Virginia Tech (8-4) went on record, the Atlantic Coast Conference championship game against No. 18 Boston College(8-4), 30-12. Not to be outdone, Southern Cal UCLA kept at bay on the road, 28-7, to win their 7th straight Pac 10 championship and 4th straight BCS bowl appearance.

Appreciation Ice Hockey: An Alternative to South Florida football and basketball teams

During a sports season, where the Dolphins have the worst record in the NFL and the Miami Heat already seem hell-bent on a lackluster (or worse) follow-up stunning championship win last year (dropping almost all of their preseason games and then always complete by the Chicago Bulls during their home opener crushingly) defeated Miami - Ft. Lauderdale residents could to find a team that they can observe their performance does not disgust them. Enter South Florida 's hockeyTeam, the Florida Panthers.

I was born in Alaska, raised, which means that it was a legal requirement that I play hockey (and through the ice, I mean of course the variety played on the ice, not the diversity in the fields of high school girls and the Irish played). As such, I developed an understanding that the average over the Florida - namely, that hockey is essentially Canadians punching each other over long stretches. While this is an important aspect of the game, there arereally a lot more. It is a precise game of each player and team strategy, which is one of the fast-paced game on the planet.

If you know anything about hockey (beyond, of course, something about the Canadians punching each other), here are some basic rules and things to be noted: Each team is allowed 6 players, including goalkeeper. The game is in three twenty Minutes Played time, and the goal is to be put the puck in the net of the opponent as often as possible. That was pretty much sums up the core of the game.

Those are just some of the subtleties - when the referee whistles, the opportunities there is one of four reasons: The goalkeeper has covered the puck, there is a penalty, there is mention ice cream, or someone is off-sides. The goalkeeper for the puck is self-explanatory, and the penalties are usually quite intuitive (not with a stick for someone to drag you down, no elbows to the head man, etc.) Icing occurs when a team shootsRed puck from his side of the ice (behind the center-) line up behind the goal line of the opposing team (the little red lines) on both sides. Off-site occurs when an attacking player in their defensive zone of the opponent's (the blue line) before the puck. Now that you know the basic rules, you can relate to what hockey so exciting: the plot.

Other than the fighting, the thing that people know about hockey is the prevalence of bone-crushing body checks. Thewhole stadium will catch (and then cheer wildly) and two 240 lb colliding giants shudder on the boards with a deafening. Many people are surprised that such incidents are entirely legal by the rules of the game is the fact of the matter, that where this is legally done, and the impressive body control have very little chance in the injury time, and if it conforms the amazing combination of speed of the game, the physicality is very exciting.

It should be noted that to enjoy a Hockey game, you should take a couple of friends in tow and a couple of decent seats, as with any sporting event, and, just as for any other sporting event, many limo companies offer (including Mirage Limo) sports packages that significantly improve your Travel to and from the game.

In no time you will be watching and cheering Ed Belfour's great and saves Ollie Jokinen is fantastic goals. Hockey is a great game, and now, with the outlook for the southern winter> Florida's other professional teams, is the perfect time to discover them.

College Football - Week 7 - Only 10 teams remain unbeaten - Oklahoma, Missouri and LSU All Lose

College football's 7th week began with 15 unbeaten teams left and only 10 as No. 1 Oklahoma, Missouri, No. 3, No. 4 Louisiana State, No. 13 and No. 20 Vanderbilt upset Auburn were all finished.

Some fans call indicates that it is difficult to Oklahoma and LSU losses could interfere, as the No. 1 Sooners play No. 5 Texas Longhorns and the No. 4 LSU Tigers played No. 11 Florida Gators.

The Texas-Oklahoma contest was a shootout that LonghornCoach Mack Brown as "one of the greatest football games I've ever seen." Texas behind by 11 points twice in the first half and 8 in the 3rd Quarterly profit before 45-35 at home.

Longhorn Chris Ogbannaya, a senior in his second start, ran 15 times for 127 yards, no more important than the 62-yard gain on a line that are nowhere to play helped keep Texas at the beginning.

Texas junior quarterback Colt McCoy went 28-of-35 for 277 yards and 1 TD pass and no turnovers. Oklahoma sophomore quarterback Sam Bradford was not to be outdone, going 28-of-39 for 387 yards and 5 TD. Bradford Jordan Shipley for 11 passes, found 112 meters and a TD. Shipley also had an electrifying 96-yard return for a TD.

No. 3 Missouri is not as good as its pre-established game 5-0 record and No. 17 Oklahoma State warrants that by a trip to Missouri and against the Tigers at home, 28-23, which will reduce its unbeaten record 6 -0. The loss was the first for Missouri.

No. 11> Florida, but it was not until No. 4 LSU, leading 20-3 at the half and at the end of the Tigers 51-21 at home. We no longer have to guess which team is better.

No. 13 Vanderbilt little 15-minute brush with fame on the Commodores traveled to unranked Mississippi State and promptly lost 17-14, the Bulldogs. Mississippi raised its record to 2-4 with the win over Vanderbilt. There are no words to the No. 20 Auburn Tigers, who lost to unranked Arkansas at home 25-22. Auburnfell right out of the AP Top 25 poll with a thud.

Between Missouri, Louisiana State and Auburn, it was not a good week, the Tigers. Kudos to Texas, Florida and Oklahoma State, which defends its ranking.

Donated to the other top teams were ranked 13th, No. 6 Penn State on the road over Wisconsin, 48-7, No. 7 Texas Tech at home over Nebraska 37-31 overtime No. 8 Southern California at home on Arizona State 28-0, No. 9 BYU at home, 21-3 over New Mexico, No., 10Georgia at home, 26-14 over Tennessee, No. 12 Ohio State 16-2 at home over Purdue, Utah and No. 14 on the road 40-7 over Wyoming.

Also No. 15 Boise State on the road 24-7 over Southern Mississippi, No. 16 Kansas at home 30-14 over Colorado, No. 21 Wake (Forest 12-7 at home over Clemson Tigers another team), no 22 North Carolina 29-24 at home over Notre Dame, No. 23 Michigan State 37-20 on the road over unbeaten and unranked Northwestern and No. 25 Ball State 24-7 on the road about 1-AAWestern Kentucky.

The 10 remaining unbeaten teams (in no particular order) are Alabama, Penn State, Texas, Boise State University, Texas Tech, Utah, BYU, Ball State, Oklahoma State and Tulsa.

If you are the Sagarin schedule ratings for strength, as of 10 unbeaten teams are listed in order from the best strength of schedule:

Alabama (38.), Texas (43.), Utah (72.), Penn State (74.), Oklahoma State (94.), Texas Tech (105.), Ball State (107.), Boise State (111 .), BrighamYoung (121.) and Tulsa (141.). This would go a long way to explain, why some of these teams are unbeaten. There are 119 Division 1-A schools, so you how hard the teams can imagine that in the last 5 of these unbeaten teams.

Tulsa plays absolutely no one worth talking about and could go undefeated if they beat Arkansas 3-3. Tulsa last victory was more than a 1-6 Southern Methodist team and the Golden Hurricane (Tulsa, that's won) 37-31. Brigham Young faces off against gratefulUtah in the last game of the year for both schools. Boise State rather get a free ride to Fresno State. Ball State faces really nobody.

Alabama, Texas, Penn State, will earn the Oklahoma State and Texas Tech its way, by far tougher competition before.

Alabama, Virginia Tech, South Florida and Pittsburgh were all idle this week.

Other notable achievements deserve some attention. Penn State's Nittany Lions traveled to Wisconsin and beat the Badgers at home48-7. It is not easy to beat Wisconsin at home and rip the team of Joe Paterno on the Badgers next was impressive.

Michigan is really disappointing again this year, losing at home in the Big House in Toledo 13-10. The loss was the first time in its history, the storied Michigan to a Mid-American Conference team has lost. Toledo came into the competition with a 1-4 mark and an earlier loss to Florida International.

Oregon State has the worst 3-3 team in the nation. The Beavers beat Washington State 66-13, 45-7 Hawaii, Southern Cal 27-21 crowned disturbed, and is not in the mood for their losses to Stanford, Penn State and Utah (all on the road) to explain. They travel to Washington this week, and I do not want a Husky arrive, they happen.

After such a good start to the season, East Carolina now looks very average, lose again on the way to Virginia 35-20.

The new AP Top 25 Poll has the top 10 in that order, Texas, Alabama, Penn State, Oklahoma,> Florida, Southern Cal, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, Brigham Young and Georgia.

Some games of interest this week at No. 12 Ohio State No. 20 Michigan State, No. 13 LSU on unranked but dangerous South Carolina, No. 22 Vanderbilt at No. 10 Georgia (The Commodores lost their classification) and no . 16 Kansas at # 4 Oklahoma will (be careful, Jayhawks), No. 11 Missouri at No. 1 unranked Texas, Michigan at No. 3 Penn State (Joe Paterno's eyes growing every week, onlyexceeded by his appetite for victory), and Hawaii at number 15 Boise State (the Warriors could do the impossible?).

Ohio State (-22) VS. MINNESOTA:

Ohio State has played much better than any of their defense than expected is one of the best unit in all college football. These Buckeyes defensive team, every game they have so far this year, and they are controlled in a position to put a stop to a decent Gophers attack. Ohio State, the offense is not up to par with their defense, but they are just good enough for this team, the Buckeyes look of the past, large teams. Although theseNumber could be a bit high, as their offensive inconsistency is the Ohio State defense so dominant that they be able to control them in this book. West Virginia (-7) VS. SOUTH FLORIDA:

The climbers visit USF in a nationally televised Monday Night game, which has a long way to goDecision Big East supremacy. The success of West Virginia was not unexpected, but the big game of South Florida was a surprise. They have played a big upset win on the road to a defense on the road against Auburn. Of course they will have their hands busy with the dynamic duo of QB Pat White and RB Steve Slaton. West Virginia has been an offensive machine this year, is normally march up and down the field with ease. These two are probably the biggest gameCircuit-breaker in college football, and if you throw in freshman sensation Noel Devine, it is clear that USF has to play the game of their lives such a win. Go with the climbers to shine again on the national stage. THE PICK: West Virginia (-7)

Boise State (-10) VS. Southern Mississippi:

Boise State has a very good home team over the years, as they are 20-4 ATS in their 24 such games. Their attack is not nearly at the level they were in the stormthe NCAA the last two years, but they can still move the ball with good efficiency. Southern Miss also fight defensively, and should yield some big yardage to the State before. Boise State also has a nice advantage for the defense, as they have played all year and should keep a weak Southern Miss offense. Banking on the fact that Boise State plays in front of the home crowd on national television. THE PICK: Boise State (-10.5)
