What You Need to Know About Florida Long Term Care Insurance

With the array of Long Term Care resources available on the net today, majority is probably aware of the ins and outs of this policy - its scope, limitations and premium costs. However, does everyone know that just like cultures and dialects, LTC varies in every state? The cost of Florida Long Term Care Insurance is different from that of New York or another state. Laws governing health care varies as well and it is the responsibility of the residents of a certain state to be aware of these laws.

What then do residents from Florida need to know about the status of LTC policies in their state? How does it differ from other states, especially in terms of cost? Are there enough good nursing facilities available?

In a study by Genworth, the cost of Florida Long Term Care Insurance is rising faster than inflation. An average yearly amount of USD $82,125 goes to private nursing homes while semi-private homes costs about USD $74,825. The high-end nursing homes, on the other hand, are worth USD $313 and USD $247 daily at the metro areas of Naples and West Palm Beach. Naples, being the most expensive area in Florida for assisted living facilities, costs USD $4,600 monthly.
And do you know that the price of private rooms in nursing homes in Florida's four largest regions has risen significantly? Compared to the 2.3% rise in the core CPI in 2005, the following figures appeared for the four regions:

-5% increase in Jacksonville
-4% increase in Tampa - St. Petersburg
-3% increase in Miami-Fort Lauderdale
-3% increase in Orlando

Because of this ever-increasing cost, most residents of this state turn to private LTCi. This is to secure their assets and their families' future.

There are top and trusted insurance companies who are participating in the State Long-Term Care Insurance Partnership Program. This alliance between private LTC companies and the state government is formed to lessen reliance on Medicaid as a source for a person's long term health care needs. This is a good solution that will be beneficial to consumers. If before, one has to use up all their assets before they are eligible for Medicaid, now the case is different. They can instead apply for state long term care partnership programs to assist them. This tie-up also helps the government in saving Long Term Care expenditures which totals to almost one billion dollars yearly.

How then does this partnership work in the state of Florida?

The process is the same with other states that are part of the agreement. Good thing Florida is one of the states that offer partnership policies. Medicaid and private insurance companies tie up to fund Florida Long Term Care Insurance to provide with LTC plans. This partnership also allows individuals to have more chances of qualifying for Medicaid benefits. One great feature of this partnership is the dollar-for-dollar asset protection which allows an insured individual to keep a dollar of his assets for every dollar that his partnership policy pays out in benefits.

There are lots of advantages that you can reap from having a long term care plan as early as possible before any signs of disability or illness appears. Visit our website for more tips and advice on preparing for long term care.

Public Car Auctions - How You Can Get Hold of Great Deals at Public Car Auctions

Florida public car auctions have been going on for years and those in the know have been grabbing the opportunity to own good cars, trucks, and bikes. These are sold cheaply compared to those advertised in second-hand car dealerships. Watch out for the next auto auctions and make Florida public car auctions your first stop the next time you go hunting for used cars. You can get in touch with auto auctions in South Florida like the South Florida Auto Auction for information about car auctions. They're located close to West Palm Beach and Miami and just fifteen minutes away from the Ft. Lauderdale Airport.

Get the Best for Less

Audi, Buick, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Porsche, Dodge, Ford, Jaguar, Nissan, and Mercedes-Benz, these are just a few of the big car brands being auctioned at public auto auctions. If you know cars, you can get one in very good condition after inspecting the lot offered for public bidding. A brand-new Buick costs about $35,000 but a seized Buick sold at the seized car auctions in Miami, for example, will cost you $550 or little bit more and this could be a month or a year old! This may have a few kinks but a little makeover can get the car running as good as new. Depending on the cost of repairs, the entire expense for a used car from seized car auctions will still be a fraction compared to buying a brand new car.

Come in Ready

The list of cars up for auction in Florida may not be listed in public announcements in newspapers like the Florida Today, Florida Times-Union, or Florida Keys Keynoter. Knowing what will be on the auction block can give you an idea if there is a particular make of the car that you want. This will narrow down your selection process and you can focus on your car search methodically. If there is none that you like, do not force a purchase just because of the money you can save, but note that there is always the right car for you in the next auctions. Price is a factor in making a choice, but 100 percent satisfaction over a purchase should be your priority when you are shopping for used cars.

Go to Government Car Auctions

When a government car auction is scheduled in, let's say, Orlando or Tallahassee, try to get directions to the place if you are not familiar with the Florida area. You can log on to the Internet and search for exact locations in And if this is your first time to participate in this type of auction, ask what are required from the participating public. Bring cash or checks and not credit cards. You need to be prepared to pay the full amount on the spot. Or if you are not in hurry, observe several government car auction events around the Florida region until you get the feel of the bidding process and learn how to stay cool and avoid overbidding.

Hurricane Wilma

Hurricane Wilma slammed into south Florida on October 24, 2005. According to the weather media this storm would blow by quick at the category 2 level of intensity. I'll tell you what, this storm did not blow buy quick, matter of fact hurricane winds lasted at least three hours at my residence in Delray Beach which is about 25 miles north of Fort Lauderdale. I downplayed this storm as not going to be all that bad. Just to be safe I installed my storm shutters and secured my outside garden furniture. I have what I call a hurricane kit in my garage with survival necessities along with a 12 gauge sawed-off shotgun. I did not need the shotgun but my supply of fresh water, lanterns, and batteries came in handy.

The storm slammed into my area right around 7:30 a.m. Of course the power died right about this time. I have been in 7 hurricanes and this is my most frightening. Sitting button upped in my house was not a nice experience. You sure hear lots of strange noises. I could hear the nails in my roof screeching as they pulled out of the supports. The roof held up fine in the end but there were moments I thought it might go. If my garage door was not reinforced with aluminum girders I believe it would have been sucked out of its tracks.

After about 90 minutes of hard wind the eye of the hurricane was over us with its eerie calm. I went outside to access the damage. The damage was not as bad as I thought it would be. I had some trees down and lost the oranges on my orange tree. My landscaping was screwed up but still I was please that we had no structural damage. I kept hearing on the radio and from some neighbors that the backside of the hurricane would not be too bad. Simply put, they were wrong. The backside finished off what the front side did not get.

Anyway we survived Wilma and the biggest inconvenience was no power. Our power was restored at approximately 7:00 p.m., October 30, 2005. My telephone still does not work although the DSL connection going through this line works fine. My cell phone did not work until 3 days after the storm. I had to cut down many of my bushes and trim back broken trees. I had some food loss. I did get a chance to cook my best meats on my grill. I always keep two extra gas bottles as part of my hurricane kit.

Few people who used common sense and prepared for this hurricane suffered. The national news media has tried to make us look like fools in Florida. You have people down here like anywhere else that think the government owes them something for their stupidity and lack of personal responsibility. The news media searches out these people for interviews on just how horrible the situation has become and how they are being short changed by all levels of government. This is bunk. FEMA responded quickly as did all levels of local and state government. Remember the Boy Scout motto, "BE PREPARED."

Places to Visit in Florida Besides Disney

There are so many things to see and do in Florida besides Disney. It is a very hard place to get bored. Be sure to bring your walking shoes, bathing suit and plenty of sunscreen.

In Florida, the weather is typically nice but some what unpredictable. In the summer (June-August) the temperatures tend to stay in the high 90's with extremely unbearable humidity. Things start to cool down in September but not by much. Our a/c runs full blast through November on any given year.

In November and December we can open the windows often and enjoy the low 80's to high 70'. January and February are our winters. Every once in a while we will see highs as low as 50 degrees. Then the temps start to rise again and spring is phenomenal.

Contrary to popular belief, unless your pool is heated, you don't want to swim from about November to April. It's chilly.

What ever time of year you visit Florida, you will have a great time. North Florida, also known as the Panhandle, holds places like the state capital of Tallahassee, some of the most beautiful white sandy beaches on the gulf coast and a VERY long and boring 3 hour drive across I-10 to get to the next state.

As you travel south, you can visit places like Jacksonville- home of the Jaguars, Gainesville- home of the Gators or St. Augustine- the oldest city in America.

Central Florida is certainly home to Disney but there is much more to it than that. Fish on one of the thousands of lakes, drive through Clearwater Beach or visit a Tampa Bay Devil Rays game. East Central Florida holds amazing places like Kennedy Space Center, the Brevard Zoo, or take an airboat ride on the St. Johns River.

South Florida is known for it's glamor and crime. South Beach is the hot spot for A-Listers. Miami is full of culture and Naples is the place to retire rich. Be sure to visit Lake Okeechobee on the way down. Some of the biggest bass are caught here.

And finally, when you reach the southern most tip of Florida, you will know you've reached Heaven. The Florida Keys are one of the most amazing places to visit. Everyone should go at least once in their life.

McKinley Blues

Slide guitar is also known as bottleneck guitar because bottlenecks were the first materials used to produce the effect. Normally a guitar player varies the pitch of notes by pressing a string down against a fret. Slide guitar players place a slide across the strings and move it along without lifting, creating continuous changes in pitch, sometimes in addition to using their free fingers to fret the guitar, sometimes not. The chords available are limited, so many musicians, including Mr Morganfield, use open tuning, a technique where the guitar strings are tuned to a particular chord (often D-G-d-g-b-d) which then changes key as the slide moves up and down the neck of the guitar. The origin of the technique is not clear. There is an Indian instrument, the Vichitra Veena which is played with a slide, as are many African one stringed instruments, though these don't share the challenges of slide guitar where strings which are playing the 'wrong' notes have to be muted.

Robert Johnson was one of the early influential guitarists to use the slide technique, but slide guitar couldn't be contained and burst from the acoustic world to electric guitar with the early blues musicians, and particularly with McKinley Morganfield who really brought the sound to electric guitar. "I Cant Be Satisfied" and "I Feel Like Going Home" were recorded in Chicago in 1948 and became hits for Mr Morganfield, bringing him a long way from his birth in Mississippi and early days as a field hand. If you're wondering why you haven't heard the name, it may be because you know the nickname better, McKinley Morganfield was better known as Muddy Waters.

Born in 1913 and raised by his Grandmother in Clarksdale Mississippi, McKinley Morganfield enjoyed playing in mud, hence the nickname Muddy. He added the 'Waters' himself later. Aged 13 he learned to play harmonica, but four years later, after hearing Robert Johnson he took up the guitar and by age 17 he was playing at various local events, his style a mixture of Johnson's slide guitar playing and Son House's tone. He married for the first time in 1932 but his wife left three years later when his first child was born, but not to her. In 1941 collectors came from the Library of Congress, looking for Robert Johnson in the hope of recording his music. Johnson was dead, but Muddy Waters was willing and able to demonstrate. He was recorded in 1941 and 1942 and then left the South for good in 1943 to move to Chicago.

It was Muddy Waters who brought blues, and specifically electric blues to England in the late fifties to influence an entire generation, though he himself was surprised that the music, which had arisen in black America, was losing it's appeal within the black community who were turning to soul music. At the same time young white teenagers were becoming huge fans. The Rolling Stones named themselves from one of Water's songs, Eric Clapton grew up loving the sound, and Led Zeppelins 'Whole Lotta Love' is based on a Muddy Waters song 'You Need Love'. It may be his influence which spread the use of slide guitar to the rock and roll world where it has developed still further. The Rolling Stones and ZZ Top have all used the technique as have Pink Floyd and even George Harrison, who experimented with it during his time as a Beatle and on later solo songs like 'My Sweet Lord'. Martin Scorsese the film director is a confirmed fan and has used Muddy Waters songs in many of his films, such as Casino and Goodfellas.

Muddy Waters continued to work throughout his life. His last performance was with Eric Clapton's band in Florida in 1982. He died a few months later. He is ranked #17 in Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time, but his true influence can't possibly be measured.

Geico Home Owners Insurance - 8 Things That Will Make You Get Lower Rates

1. Just as a newly built house attracts reduced rates, you get discounts if your house undergoes a renovation. The reason for this isn't hard to guess since we all understand that once a house is renovated, it's as good as new and as a result the owner is very unlikely to make a claim for repairs soon. All renovations won't bring similar savings since the degree of renovation done is rightly a defining factor. You can find out what you'd get as discounts if you ask an agent.

2. Don't add the cost of the land when you apply for your homeowners insurance policy. You insure the home to get coverage from perils that could make you lose it. No matter what happens, the land on which your house is built will still be where it was. When you apply, remember to deduct the land's value. If you fail to do this you'll be buying far more insurance than is necessary. You'll simply be spending a lot more than you should.

3. You'll attract more affordable rates if your home is better secured. Certain security systems will attract discounts of about 5 percent. Certain insurers take it even further and offer between 15-20% reduction in rates if you get special fire and security systems that ring at a police station, fire station or any monitoring outfit. Just bear in mind that such devices must be such recommended by such an insurer for you to qualify for such huge discounts. The huge markdown you get might not be worth it since these advanced systems cost quite a lot.

4. A home of smokers will attract expensive premiums. Your home insurance rate will be less if any smoker in your household quits. More than 20,000 residential fires are traceable to smoking yearly. Do bear in mind that some insurers may not offer any markdowns for this.

5. If you're retired, you've qualified for discounts in home insurance from certain home insurance providers. This discount is based on the thinking that retirees spend more time to look after their home and are also likely to spot fires more easily.

6. Rebates are usually given to those who remain with the same insurance company more than three years. The longer the time you stay loyal to an insurance company, the higher the concession you get. The rebates you get for remaining with an insurance company may be smaller than what you'll gain by switching. Knowing which is better for you is very easy. You can know for sure by getting quotes from as many insurers as you can and then compare savings you'll realize if you switch with what your current insurer gives as concession.

7. You'll get a cheaper Geico home owners insurance premium if you opt for a higher deductible.

A deductible is the amount a policyholder must pay before his/her insurer becomes bound by law to pay as indicated in the terms of their policy. The least deductible normally in home insurance is about $250. By increasing your deductible to $500 you'd likely realize savings of about 12%. Increasing it more to $1000 may result in twenty-four percent discount. Different insurance companies could offer more or less so check with your agent before you make this decision.

8. Get and compare quotes from not less than three quotes sites. Although Geico home owners insurance rates might be good for your profile, some other reputable insurance companies might have rates that are up to 50% less.

Requesting quotes from a minimum of three quotes sites increase the chances that you'd get more affordable home insurance quotes. This is because insurance companies not represented by one site would be represented by the other. And, you should understand that because the likelihood of getting lower home insurance quotes has to do with the number of quotes you obtain, the more insurers you get quotes from, the higher your chances will be. Requesting for your home insurance quotes online will help you save much more if you sacrifice just 15 minutes to obtain quotes from a minimum of 3 quotes sites.

Packaging Containers (Forms) For Milk And Dairy Products

Bottle

The glass bottle still continues to be used for packaging of milk in some parts of the world. However in several developed countries and some of the developing countries it has lost ground to single service containers for packing milk.

Carton

The cartons are the preferred medium or form for packaging milk. They are also used for packaging liquid, frozen and coagulated milk products. Cartons are commonly made of food grade paper coated on the inside with wax or plastics; or lined with paper, plastic films or aluminium foil; or made of laminates. The merits include maximum space utilization in vehicles, and storage; ability to carry attractive printing and convenience as a means for stacking milk at super market shelves.

Retailers in the developed countries consider it the best available package for self-service selling. Cartons also play a role in the bulk packaging of milk. Cartons are commonly available either as preformed containers or as pre cut blanks ready to be formed in to containers. The carton systems in common use is

Perga (preformed) U.K

Pure pak (precut) USA

Zupack, Blockpak (precut) Germany

Tetra pak (precut) Sweden

Sachet / Bag / Pouch

Flexible waterproof plastic bags are commonly used for packaging milk and liquid dairy products. Since it is difficult to pour from these, a jug is usually also provided. The popular laminate for such bag is black or dark brown (to exclude UV light) or white. The bags may be formed from either a reeled or flat film. Generally it is a form-fill-seal system. Generally, ultra violet light is used to sterilize the films. The bags are heat-sealed and cut, the common sequence being to bottom seal, fill, move down on sachet length, top seal and cut off.

Can

This is commonly used for packaging all types of solid, semi solid and powdered dairy products. Cans are traditionally made of soldered tin plate steel, generally lacquered on the inner surface to prevent corrosion. Aluminium cans have now become famous. Cans are the most convenient for gas packing.

Box / Tub

It may be made up of wood or paper board. White wooden boxes / tubs are used for bulk packing of butter and butteroil with butter paper / plastic liners, paperboard boxes are generally used as over-wraps.

Barrel / Cask

Commonly made up of wood and coated with wax on the inner surface. Used for bulk packaging of sweetened condensed milk, semi solid butter milk / whey, butteroil etc.

Cup

They are generally made up of paper with wax or plastic coating on the inside. Used for packing frozen dairy products such as ice cream and coagulated milk products.

Collapsible tube

They are made up of aluminium and lacquered on the inside. Low cost, lightweight, ease of handling and dispensing, product protection are its advantages. Used for packing semi fluid products such as sweetened condensed milk, processed cheese spread etc.

Life Insurance Medical Exam

Before you can get your final quote and actually sign your policy, you must have a medical exam. The purpose of this exam is obvious. First, they want to verify the information you provided on your application and second, they want to know if you have any medical condition which you may not be aware of. This medical exam will directly influence your insurability and the final costs of your premiums.

In most cases, the insurance company will pay for the medical exam and will choose which paramedical will conduct the exam. In some cases, no medical exam may be necessary. This usually is the case for young people and/or policies with small coverage amounts. In most cases you can expect to be contacted by a paramedic to schedule your life insurance medical exam.

Interestingly enough, the more coverage you are requesting and the type of policy you are seeking, the more extensive your medical exam will be. Physical exam, urine specimen, blood work, EKG and x-ray are common in the medical exam. You can also expect to be tested for HIV, high cholesterol, liver or kidney disorders, diabetes, hepatitis and immune disorders, as well as drug use, and smoking.

After your exam, the results will be sent to the insurance company for review. This is why giving the most accurate information on your application is important. If they find discrepancies between your application and the results of the exam they can deny you coverage or request a second exam.

If you are declined coverage based on your medical exam, it is your right to be sent a copy of that medical exam for review by you or your doctor. If you believe that the test results are wrong, don't hesitate to contact your insurance company and request a second medical exam.

Once the insurance company reviews your medical exam results and approve you, they will calculate your premiums based on all the information, conditions, provisions, health risk, etc specified and send you your final policy quote for review and acceptance.

Try to be very accurate on your policy application. It can be very difficult to fool the life insurance medical exam and sometimes an insurance company will completely deny you coverage based on your inaccuracies, even though they may have covered you if you had been more accurate, at a higher premium of course.

An example of this came to us from a fellow in Miami, Florida. He stated on his application that he was a non smoker. And for the most part this was true. He did not consider the 3 to 4 cigarettes per week he smoked to qualify him and categorize him as a smoker. Once the exam was completed, it showed that he indeed was a smoker. The insurance company declined to process his application any further. He discontinued smoking for some time and applied to another insurance company where he was accepted as a non smoker.

The insurance companies have all the power and reserve the right to not insure you for any reason they want. In the example above, this mans family may find later, at the time of his death, that the insurance company will refuse to pay out the death benefit because they will find out that he is a smoker, even if its only a few cigarettes per week. How will they find out you ask? Prior to paying out any benefits, regardless of the amount, the insurance company will require a copy of the medical records of the insured. If they determine that he was a smoker, even if he started later in life, they could deny his family the death benefit because he did not notify them of his change in medical status.

There are many cases of this. Remember, the insurance companies are looking for any reason whatsoever to not pay.

B. Universal Orlando Resort

The resort has two theme parks, luxurious hotels, dining, nightlife and shopping venues. Universal Orlando Resort is just a different world; it also contains the Universal Studious where you can enjoy the ride while watching movies. It is very informative because you will learn how movies are made and the secrets behind some movie effects.

Looking for adventure? The Islands of Adventure can give you some! There are wild rides and roller coasters in this newest park in Orlando. Truly a great and wild way to enjoy your vacation.

D. Sea world Adventure Park

Sea world is a well known aquatic park of Orlando Florida. Aside from the breath taking rides to enjoy, there are animal shows where you can see smart animals doing their amazing stunts.

Other spots in Orlando are the Universal City Walk, Busch Gardens, Discovery Cove and Cypress Gardens for nature lovers, Orlando Science Center and Kennedy Space Center for space enthusiasts; Pleasure Island for nightlife and a collection of Ripley's believe it or not artifacts.

Destination: Miami Florida

Miami is located at the south eastern part of Florida. It has a mild climate all year round and is famous for beautiful beaches. In 2002, the Natural Health Magazine ranked Miami as the number 1 Healthiest City in the nation. Miami is the number one choice for boating enthusiast and active travelers.

Sights to See:

A. Miami Beach was listed as a historic district in 1979. Thanks to Miami Vice, this TV serves as advertisement to the public and has given the city much recognition.

B. South Beach is located along Bay Road and West Avenue at Miami Beach's western edge. Therein located the grandest island hotels such as Mondrian Hotel.

Numerous restaurants such as The Capital Grille, Palm, Porcao, Knife Steakhouse etc. Serve grilled steaks and other delicious foods. There are also hotels luxuriously serving 24/7 everyday for a day or week long vacation.

I have only mentioned two of the well known paradise escapes in Florida. There are numerous other destinations that you and your family can consider such as Atlantic beaches, Bimini Bahamas, Cedar Islands, Florida Gulf.

Florida is obviously blessed with numerous beaches, rich hotels, and beautiful spots that is suited for a family vacation. The best thing is for the family to unwind and have a good time to reunite. Never mind the expense, it will pour out again when you come back and be stressed with bulk of work. What is essential is for you to be focused on the vacation and your family once in a while.

Great Florida Diving Sites Along the Atlantic Coast

Many open water divers attend Florida diving basically because there are plenty of diving sites found around the coast of Florida. A little known fact is that apart from being located in a nice and warm region, Florida has the longest coastline of all the states in the U.S.

When we first look at the Atlantic coastline you will find a series of reef lines creating an outer reef, inner reef and middle reef. These reefs run along the coastline providing different diving experiences from north of West Palm Beach all the way down the coastline to The Keys. A fantastic event up and down this coast is the perpetual current of warm water which is The Gulf Stream. The Gulf Stream runs near to the shores heading north before veering out into the Atlantic. The Gulf Stream provides a cleansing action for the marine bio system and brings with it nutrients which provides essential food for the growing marine system.

Florida diving centers are able to find a variety of dive sites along the coast.

Florida Diving Sites: West Palm Beach - Miami

West Palm Beach has a fantastic variety of dive sites with loads of wrecks to explore such as the Thozina which is just one of three ships making up one dive site known as Governor's River Walk Reef.

In West Palm Beach Florida diving beginners can still enjoy a pulsating experience scuba diving well known reef systems such as Breakers Reef.

Travel south down the coast and you find Ft. Lauderdale. Known as "The Venice of America" this is a wonderful place to visit on any Florida diving trip.

Apart from the canals and waterways Ft. Laud offers extraordinary diving opportunities such as Tenneco Towers or Oil Platforms. Venture further south and you arrive at Miami.

Miami. Culture, fashion, sport and 'er' Army tanks waiting to be explored on the sea floor!

Apart from all the cultural things you can do around Miami on your Florida diving trip there is also a great variety of scuba dive sites that provide novice and experienced divers plenty of chance to have fun.

Florida Diving Sites: Key Largo - Key West

Beyond Miami and travelling further south, no Florida diving schedule would exclude a visit to Key Largo or Key West.

When you catch sight of the vast choice of diving sites available it's easy to see why Key Largo is one of the most popular diving destinations in the world.

The locale around Key Largo is amazing in its diversity with shipwrecks, reefs and caves to be explored. The biggest wreck ever sunk off the coast of Florida is the Spiegel Grove and this challenging dive is rewarded with the astonishing sight of one huge shipwreck now occupied by some very great fish. The are many other ships including the U.S.S. Duane and U.S.S. Bibb which can be dived by less experienced divers.

When it comes to underwater photography or macro photography Molasses Reef provides an interesting opportunity to perform your underwater skills with the shallow waters and amazing marine life providing the fantastic colors and lighting.

Key Largo is the finest known by the Florida diving community for its wide choice of diving sites but Key West is the location to go for the nightlife and culture if you do travel to The Keys.

Key West provides some of the best entertainment in The Keys with the streets full of jugglers, singers and other entertainers going through their routines in the street. With some great dive sites Key West is many peoples favorite destination.

So many places and so little time and what's more we haven't even looked at The Gulf of Mexico on Florida's west coast. That we will do in an additional article.

What Is Counseling?

Imagination can be a wonderful thing, but it can also cause some people to be mistaken about what something actually is. Where counseling is concerned, thanks to Hollywood and well written books, people who have never been to counseling think you go in, sit on a couch and talk while some guy with a notepad takes down notes about you. Counseling is not entirely like that. Basically, counseling is where a professional will give advice, opinions or direction based on what the patient has discussed with them. In some ways, a counselor could almost be seen as a guide. Counseling is done in an informal and comfortable environment where the patient is free to discuss what bothers them. They are free to express their feelings and emotions to someone they know are listening to them.

It's easy for people who don't really know what counseling is to not realize there are many different types of counseling for different problems. Counseling is very much like therapy in that there are individual areas in which counseling focuses on. It is not simply one broad thing that one person covers. There are actually different subjects that different counselors will specialize in. There is marriage counseling, family counseling, career counseling, mental health counseling, substance abuse counseling, debt counseling, child development counseling and grief counseling, to name a few.

Marriage counseling is where a couple will go see a counselor to help settle difficulties in their marriage and to work through any problems they may have. Some couples even go to marriage counseling before they tie the knot to ensure they keep and maintain the strong bond they have through a long and happy marriage. Family counseling comes in, more often than not, when parents are having difficulties with their children. Parents can bring their children in and speak with a counselor who can then help them work through their disagreements. Career counseling focuses on individuals who are trying to find the right career to go into, as well as for people who are in a career but are thinking of a change or looking for a way to advance in their current career. Mental health counseling is for people who may be suffering from a form of depression, or who may suffer from some other mental condition. Substance abuse counseling focuses on those who wish to get over an addiction, such as alcoholism, so they can better their personal lives. Debt counseling is for people who might be in debt and they need help in managing their finances properly. Other people may not necessarily be in debt, but they are looking for some education on how to manage their finances properly. Child development tends to deal with younger kids who may need help in learning to focus, learn how to deal with their emotions properly, learn how not to be anti-social and how they can build more self-confidence. Grief counseling typically deals with those who have lost a loved one, either tragically or by natural causes.

The areas of counseling mentioned above are only a few of the many that are actually out there in the world today. It is a very broad area that covers just about any subject a person would seek counseling in if necessary. It is nothing to fear and has come a long way from the old stereotype. In the end, it is only fear and misunderstanding that prevents many people from opening up to the idea of counseling.

North Miami Beach: A Higher Time than South

North Miami Beach is located roughly halfway between Miami and Ft. Lauderdale. Once known as Fulford (after a prominent citizen of the area), citizens of the town changed the name in 1931, after realizing that "Fulford" sounds like it might be the birthplace of the hillbillies from "Deliverance." Now often known as NMB, North Miami Beach is a hotbed of shopping and clothing optional beaches. There are dining and cultural opportunities to rival anywhere else in South Florida, and strange attractions as well. Take, for example, the Ancient Spanish Monastery - a genuine Spanish monastery (built in the 12th century) that was disassembled and moved brick by brick to the new world by well-known plutocrat and newspaper tycoon William Randolph Hearst. Ever a popular site for weddings, it is worth a visit, if only to remind you what can be accomplished with singular vision and limitless resources.

If you are looking for a good time in North Miami Beach (and who isn't), there's a great place you have to try. Far away from South Beach and Coconut Grove, Bermuda Bar and Grill is a great nightclub, though with a decidedly different vibe than hotspots further south. The bartenders seem to wear kilts (a little difference) and rather than the typical fruity, umbrella filled drinks that are popular in SoBe, at the Bermuda you'll find people enjoying bottles of beer and shots (a bigger difference). The cover is quite reasonable, and Wednesday is ladies' night, where women drink for free and force men to do their bidding. The food is pretty good, and at more of a reasonable prices than the food at the clubs in South Beach. The place is quite large; it features seven bars and two floors, and it's open until the sun comes up (Wednesday through Saturday). All in all, the Bermuda Bar and Grill is the perfect place to go if you are tired of dealing with the crowds and parking situation of SoBe and Coconut Grove.

But, just because the Bermuda is a little more laid back than other clubs doesn't mean that you shouldn't go there in style. Mirage Limo is ready, willing, and able to cart you to almost any club of your choice (provided it's in Florida), and a limousine is a great way to go to any hotspot. Give the Bermuda Bar and Grill a try; you'll be glad you did.

Miami Still The Best Spot For Condo Market Despite The Bust

What makes Miami's real estate still an attractive place for investors? Well there are a lot of factors to consider first and foremost, but still Miami will always be Miami and the popularity of the place will never fade, ever. South Florida's condo market has taken the hardest hit, when it comes to condo market uprising. Steve Reibel, senior vice-president at the Keyes Company, says there are 25,000 condos in the marketplace now and another 20,000 units coming out of the ground. A recent report from the Florida Association of Realtors shows that condo prices fell 30 per cent from a year earlier in Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach-Boca Raton. Well if you aren't moved by those numbers right now I'll tell you those numbers are ridiculous. But I hope developers have some mighty plans for it, because it is sad to see those units go wasted away because of the market's status.

In Miami, condo prices dropped only 11 per cent but sales are down a whopping 47 per cent. Certainly that alone will give you an idea on how bad the market has been for Sunny Miami. To get rid of this glut of condos, developers are enticing buyers with incentives like cars and free maintenance fees for a year. Or they're slashing prices, encouraging foreign purchasers to sign on the dotted line. Buyers, who lives in different parts of the world can then pay cash for a condo in the succeeding months in places such as Hollywood, located between Fort Lauderdale and Miami, which serves as a winter haven for many foreigners. Giving the details there will be more similar situations like the latter simply because foreign buyers knows a lot and they are wise on picking seasons when to buy their homes.

According to some experts, the best deals, of course, come at the expense of owners who cannot afford to hold onto properties until the market picks up. There are thousands of short sales, where banks allow properties to be sold for less than the mortgage value, and foreclosures were up 212 per cent from 2006 to 2007, with Broward County leading the way. Then there is the growing number of auctions, with many properties being sold without minimum bids. Keyes formed an alliance with a real estate auction firm in February to hasten the sales of languishing properties. It is something that buyers can take advantage to and make it leverage for their buy. It is not an unusual site simply because it is part of the vicious cycle in the biz.

Although the trend is a short following there are signs that the fire sale may be winding down. Single-family home sales in Miami-Dade were up slightly in March compared to February, and experts says Keyes is seeing listing inventory plateau, with prices and sales volume starting to grow. But buyers aren't worrying about real estate prices anymore. They are enjoying the southern climate in their courtyards, under palm trees swaying in the breeze. Because they know that Miami is always a place to be when it comes to condo real estate.
