Florida Atlantic University is Public, Co-educational Research Institute

A public, co-educational research institute that is located in Boca Raton, Florida, in United States, Florida Atlantic University serves seven county areas as well as a population of over three million spanning an area of 160 Kilometers.
Brief Background
Founded in 1964, it was the first public university that was set up in the southeast part of the state of Florida. It was also the first university in the country that offered only upper division as well as the graduate level courses. Subsequently however, undergraduate courses were opened. University has awarded over 110,000 degrees to around 105,000 alumni all over the world. Initially known as computer school, the university has expanded its courses assuming the features of traditional educational academies. Such status was further elevated with the establishment of the School of Medicine and substantial development of games and sports facilities.
Campus Features
Besides the main campus at Boca Raton, the university also has six other satellite campuses. These are located in Dania Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Port St. Lucie, Fort Pierce, Davie, and Jupiter. Fort Pierce houses the Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institution.

The university that started with only 867 students in 1964 has over 28,000 students today. Diversified nature of the student enrollment is reflected in the fact that the university has students not only from 49 states in United States as well as the District of Columbia but also from no less than 140 overseas countries.
