Diane Bish - Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D Major by JS Bach

Bach once said, "All tones ascend to heaven, too deep for utterence." Here, organist Diane Bish performs four movements from Bach's third Orchestral Suite in D Major. The Orchestral Suites of Bach were taken from popular dances tunes of his day from Spain, Germany, England, and France. Although these were originally composed for chamber orchestra, Miss Bish has transcribed these four movements for the organ. We hear in this particular suite not only the variations of light-hearted moods, but also Bach's amazing gift for writing beautifully expressive melodies. Miss Bish performs this piece on the 117 rank Ruffati organ of the Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Excerpts include Gavotte I and II, the famous Air, played on the string and flute stops of the organ, and concludes with the rapid Bourre excerpt, featuring the power Ruffati en chamades.
