Coming from Newark, NJ to Orlando, Florida Street Niagara Falls

The day finally arrived and it was time to leave for our trip to London Gatwick airport for our long journey in the United States. We had booked an overnight stay in a hotel at the airport, so we are fresh for our trip the next day. I should note that this trip was before 9-11.

Our flight was on a flight from Newark, NJ with Virgin Atlantic and a return flight from Orlando with Virgin too. You book your rental car into two parts, both of Alamo. From the rental car is moreNew York, the first step would be costly for 7 days and then we would return the car in Orlando and take one more element for the rest of the trip.

Our planned route was to remain at the landing in Newark to stay in a Holiday Inn near the airport. Then the next day head to Niagara, where we spend two nights, then travel to Florida to stay 2 nights on the road.

We left on time from Gatwick Airport for almost 7 hours of flight. Although we haveOn the way to Florida, we had never been regularly travel to New York before and how our time would be a bit 'limited, we had not planned to visit the city on water. We arrived in the afternoon after flying quite low along the Hudson River offers a beautiful view of the skyline of New York in a very busy airport, Newark. The airport itself had undergone some major changes and was to be a bit 'confused, honestly. We finally cleared immigration and collected our luggageand that's when the rental car from Alamo, so we are waiting for the bus, was to meet us there. In fact, from where we were waiting, we could see the depot outside the airport road. The bus came and took us to the store. We had booked a one-way rental, and we knew we had to pay a drop-off fee of $ 300. The clerk tried to give us, although we booked for the rehabilitation of seven seat minivan for the four of us were talking and all of our pre-paid fees and insurance. We paidthe fee for drop-off and collection of airport charges (which are able to pay us) gave us the keys and told us where was the vehicle. Imagine our surprise when we found the vehicle was in fact an 8-seater minivan, GMC, it seems they wanted us to pay for the upgrade and even better, had Florida plates! At that time we were anxious not start Dom we have too many problems on it. We headed to our hotel to find and a short drive we arrived at the Holiday Inn.We checked in and went to our rooms to freshen up a bit 'before dinner. We would be eating in the hotel and had a few drinks first for the night.

The next morning, with our body clocks still in the British weather, we could be 5 clock, fresh and ready for our trip to Niagara Falls. It starts at 05:30 clock and decided that we would have breakfast on the road. After a while, 'a nightmare trying to get on the highway, we finally left the area of Newark. Daylight wascome and we found a Perkins, breakfast on the go. The rest of the ride was quite busy and we noticed how similar the landscape, where we lived in England. When approached Niagara Falls, probably about 30 minutes, I could see what I thought was steam from a cooling tower was in the distance. It was discovered that the waterfalls.

We decided to stay on the Canadian side of the falls and had booked two nights at the Sheraton Hotel. Once at the border, we hadto go through customs and immigration authorities, we had no problems and were in about 15 minutes. It is then at first sight that we had came from the bridge, that view was magnificent. I can only say that the photos do not do it justice. We went to our hotel and then checked in Niagara to explore. We decided to go down to the falls and it only took about 5-10 minutes. The first thing that strikes that occurred to me that the gun is on the rise so high, in fact, the followingTomorrow, when we have the hotel I thought it was raining on the left to give to know the fine drizzle, but it was actually the jet of the waterfall. The wind was blowing in our hotel. We went all the usual tourist things, where the vortices are along the River. I was surprised to see so many people armish there, I do not know if it was a holiday for them, or what, but it was certainly a lot. We would like to see more of them later in the trip through Pennsylvania. We"Maid of the Mist," the men did well, and it was spectacular. We left the boat in the direction of Horseshoe Falls, once the boat come around to feel the speed of the engine, as the master power increases until received in the area, the only thing I can describe it as something like the Arctic , It was only known from anywhere, and you will be covered in a white spray. Even with waterproof poncho, it shows the water somewhere. The larger unit, head back to the dock and the liftback again to the main road. We also have a tour that takes you behind the falls. We found the Canadian people were awesome and we felt good value for money. We never had to change our currency, as you could pay everything in U.S. dollars. One thing to remember is that you have a sales tax refund of GST for purchases in Canada. It is limited to certain things, though, so check what you claim. The second day we went to Niagara on the Lake, anice place with a little 'beautiful scenery. It is a jet boat, which for a ride on the fun here, as it can go. On a clear day you can use the CN Tower in Toronto to see in the distance. On the night we crossed back to the U.S. side to Outlet Mall, where we have great deals to visit.

The next day we checked out of our hotel and began the trip to Florida. We had some 'bet to see who is the first man, a wild palm was before, but it would be a day or two awayyet. We crossed again in the U.S. and in the direction of Buffalo, where we took the highway. After New York, was later we entered Pennsylvania, and Harrisburg, and we went through to the next state of Maryland, where our first night spent. We stayed in a motel and were on the difference between here and other places we were surprised. It 'was a Sunday and the bar closed at 10.30 clock. It seemed that her more religious than some of the other places we had stayed.

HoweverThe next day we were out to start and I must say that the landscape in Pennsylvania and Maryland was much better, and through the city with their picturesque churches and church towers PA has been very impressive with the colors of fall leaves. And 'our intention to lower the Blue Ridge Parkway and drive through the Shenandoah park points to some of the trip, so we head toward Front Royal and in no time you enter the park as you enter and pay the fee, then we see a deerAcross the street in front of us. We thought it was a taste of things to come, but believe it or not that was the only one we saw! The speed limit on winding roads is only about 20 mph so that the journey may take some time. There is always something to see where they persist and some photos. This area is in the history of civil war and there were many plaques, which resemble the lives of soldiers between the North and the South lost. A large part of the landscape that you are viewing have not changedthat much over the years and you can imagine how it is when you look at the battlefield was down. You can see how the name Blue Ridge was a blue tinge on the hills in the distance and this will be put in the trees, the "blue" is due in Blue Ridge, issued by the isoprene in the atmosphere, then the characteristic haze on The mountains and their characteristic color. There is information on the route and places to buy refreshments. Wetraveled along the track for about 3 hours and then left again and the highway and our next stop in Roanoke, Charlotte and South Carolina, where we stayed at a Howard Johnson. The girl at reception was the southern drawl we have found so beautiful. Princess Diana had not fallen long and when he saw we were from the United Kingdom, it was great difficulty in their grief, which we thought was expressed very nice.

The next day we wanted to get to Jacksonvillefor our last night in Florida to stop and visit some friends. We left early and drove south along the highway to Charleston, where we are a member of I-95. This is run from one state to another from Maine to North Miami, Florida. We passed through Savannah and it was here that I won the $ 10 for the printing of a wild palm! Soon we came in and Jacksonville in Florida was in sight. When we got there, we chose a hotel and checkeda. It used to be afternoon and we went to meet our friends. We met and we are back to their house for a while 'and arranged to meet later in Mandarin for a pub next meal. After a great evening we returned to our hotel, we had arranged to go to St. Augustine the next day. This was a great day of St. Augustine is said to be the oldest city in the USA and is steeped in history with a Spanish flavor. We took a look at the strong and did some shopping. Later in the afternoon we were will go to Orlando. We said goodbye and headed for the land of the mouse.

The temperature was always very warm and we had changed into shorts in SC, but as we approached Orlando, it was very hot. When we arrived, we decided to Florida and ordered out of the car during the trip, has been needling away from us that we had paid $ 300 for the privilege of returning a rental car in Florida! So when we went to Hire> Orlando We have complained to the secretary, went to speak with his supervisor and returned to tell us that they will refund the $ 300 and gave us a new 7-seater Dodge Grand Caravan. So that was a good result.

We had booked in advance, our Orlando resort during our stay and we have theme parks and other tourist things to do. We also set for a few days in Fort Myers, this has always been a favorite of us. We stayed at Pointe Estero condo right onBeach. I can only recommend a trip like this and I'm happy to do it again. You can see more of the country in this way.
